Our company

The only tracking technology designed to analyse yacht navigation with this level of accuracy.

Our company

FLYN-YACHTING was founded in 2020 by Laurent Monsaingeon, a former French Navy officer, engineer and former manager of the ports on the Côte d’Azur, and Thierry Voisin, a recognised yachting professional, in response to a specific observation: a few nautical miles, a few hours’ sailing or crossing a maritime border can have significant tax, customs and legal implications.

However, professionals did not always have access to sufficiently accurate and usable data to verify the actual details of a voyage. To address this need, they combined their maritime expertise with their knowledge of yachting to create FLYN-YACHTING.

FLYN-YACHTING has developed its own algorithms, servers and geographical databases, creating a high-precision tracking platform dedicated to yachting. Using the yacht’s position data, our technology accurately reconstructs and analyses each navigation: routes, stopovers, distances, sailing times, border crossings, territorial waters, ports, shipyards and anchorages. This data is then cross-referenced with the applicable regulations to transform a simple geographical position into reliable and actionable information for tax, customs and legal purposes.

Our assets

Leader in fiscal tracking for the yachting industry

FLYN-YACHTING combines proprietary technology, data accuracy and human expertise to offer an unequalled level of precision in the analysis of navigation and its fiscal, customs, maritime and regulatory implications.

Unequalled accuracy in fiscal tracking

Our proprietary algorithms perform advanced geomatics calculations to precisely analyse every key element of a navigation: routes, distances, sailing times, crossings of maritime borders, and time spent in different territorial and fiscal zones. Any uncertainty detected in the data is identified, analysed and taken into account in our conclusions.

Exceptional data capabilities

Our technology relies on a database of nearly 80 million yacht positions, enabling us to analyse and compare maritime activity across the Mediterranean: ports, anchorages, shipyards, navigation zones and territorial crossings. This depth of data enhances the reliability and relevance of our analyses.

Permanent regulatory monitoring

Our teams have in-depth knowledge of the applicable fiscal, legal, social, maritime and environmental regulations and monitor them continuously, in order to interpret navigation data in accordance with the rules in force.

Human expertise behind every analysis

Every FLYN-YACHTING analysis is supervised by a navigation expert. Our documents are rigorously checked, verified and drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the relevant authorities to provide reliable and conclusive documentation capable of supporting your position in the event of an audit or litigation and of strengthening your legal and tax security in the long term.

A tool designed for yachting professionals

The FLYN-YACHTING suite of products and services is not intended to replace your advisors, agents or tax representatives: it complements and enhances their expertise by automating complex and repetitive analyses and by providing them with accurate, reliable and well-documented navigation and mooring data to underpin their analyses and decisions.

Our commitments

At FLYN-YACHTING, technology never replaces human expertise. Every product and certificate issued by FLYN-YACHTING is drawn up, verified and countersigned by a sailing expert. Where AIS tracking of the yacht’s movements alone is insufficient for FLYN-YACHTING to accurately establish the situation, our experts ensure that the product corresponds to the declarations made by the shipowner or the captain: the nature of the contract, the commercial nature of port calls, passenger movements, or voyages outside AIS coverage. FLYN-YACHTING analyses and documents the yacht’s voyage.

It is the responsibility of the professional in charge of the report to ensure that the yacht’s tax, customs and commercial status complies with the required conditions, particularly regarding its suitability for commercial voyages or its eligibility for the 70 per cent deep-sea navigation scheme.

Where necessary, this status must be confirmed by the shipowner’s tax or customs adviser or any other competent yachting professional. With the exception of certain real-time alert services, no FLYN-YACHTING analysis is fully automated: behind every product, there is an expert.

After 15 years at sea as a naval officer and long experience in engineering, Laurent Monsaingeon managed the ports of the CCI Nice Côte d’Azur — Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cannes and Golfe-Juan — from 1996 to 2013. In 2015 he joined ECPY, the European Committee for Professional Yachting, as a Board Member and led the team that created the ECPY Transport Agreement two years later. In 2019 he created FLYN-YACHTING with Thierry Voisin, developing — together with his son Augustin — the algorithms, databases and products (tax analysis, tables and charts, reports…). With his navigation experience and tax expertise applied to charter and transport contracts, he guarantees the conformity of the reports and certificates issued by FLYN-YACHTING with the requirements of the tax and customs authorities.
